Located only 70 mins from Tokyo, the town of Yuzawa is home to 8 different ski resorts offering some of the best powder, tree runs and even parks that Japan has to offer. Based at GALA Yuzawa, Canyons Ski School offers lessons throughout all resorts in the area.

In contrast to its close proximity to one of the world’s most modern capital cities, Yuzawa has managed to retain the unique character that makes Japan such an interesting place. You’ll get to experience onsen (Japanese hot spring baths), karaoke and izakaya (Japanese style bar/restaurant) while having awesome days on the snow, getting plenty of training to advance your skills and lots of time to socialise with a fun team.

All levels of instructors are welcome to apply and positions for Guest Services/Reception staff are also available.

At Go Myoko Ski School, operated by Canyons, there is an exciting opportunity to take an active role in the shaping of an up and coming new ski school, along with the development of the local Ikenotaira area as a whole.

Myoko Kogen was famously the snowiest place in the world in 2018/19 boasting over 17m of snow in that season. That wasn’t out of character either - Myoko has an average snowfall of 13.5m. The 9+ ski resorts that we operate from can give you anything you want - from the steep and deep, famous terrain parks and in-bound tree runs, to the wide beginner/intermediate slopes to teach your guests.

The ski school is based in Ikenotaira, a traditional Japanese town where Go Myoko staff build close relationships with the locals. Visiting onsens, izakayas and karaoke bars make up an ordinary evening. In nearby Akakura, home to one of the oldest established ski areas in the world, there is also a vibrant selection of shops, cafes and restaurants.

When you apply to work with us, we’ll share much more detailed information about what it is like to live and work in Myoko.

Another famous hot spring town, Minakami boasts 9 ski resorts and is home to some of Japan's best backcountry terrain. The area is very popular with the Japanese market because of its proximity to Tokyo. The resorts in the area are not the biggest but consistently rank in the top 10 in Japan for snowfall and lift lines simply don't exist!

If you are experienced, independent and looking for a truly Japanese adventure off the beaten path, then Minakami may be an option for you. Canyons mainly instruct at Hodaigi ski resort but also cater to all other resorts in the area. Our clients are a mix of international school groups and high-end privates.
